Electrical Testing And Inspection

The purpose of periodic inspection and testing is to provide, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of persons.

This is against the effects of; electric shock and burns, protection against damage to property by fire and heat arising from an installation defect and confirmation that the installation is not damaged or deteriorated, so as to impair safety.

Inspection and testing of your electrical installation, is not only essential for the smooth running of your building, but is a legal requirement.

RMD Electrical Ltd as an experienced NICEIC approved contractor, provides customers with the high levels of inspection and reporting demanded by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
By law, you must take reasonable precautions against the risk of death or personal injury from electricity in work activities. Electricity at Work Regulations (1989).

Fixed Installation Testing

Faulty electrical installations present a risk of death.

Our inspections are to reassure you that you have:

  • Adequate earthing and bonding.
  • Suitable switchgear and control gear.
  • Residual current devices for electrical equipment.
  • Appropriate wiring systems.
  • All necessary notices and identification.
  • A clear understanding of any implications around change of use.

Periodic Inspection and Test Reports

We work when it suits you, offering out-of-hours surveys and testing where appropriate.

After your inspection has been carried out,
you will receive a full report from us identifying any deficiencies and safety issues:

  • General condition of the installation.
  • Any lack of earthing or bonding.
  • Fire and shock hazards.
  • Results of all the electrical tests conducted.
  • Identify overloaded circuits or equipment.
  • Defective electrical work.

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT)

Our experienced electrician’s qualified to operate the multi-function test equipment, interpret the results and trained to spot flaws, defects or damaged cables.

Employers, institutions and landlords have a statutory requirement to have all electrical appliances tested if:

The appliances are used by employees and / or the public have access to and use the appliances (e.g. schools or hotels). If you lend or hire the appliances, the appliances are repaired or serviced.
